Bayou DeSiard Wildlife Management Area is located in Ouachita Parish near Monroe, Louisiana. It encompasses a network of bayous, swamps, wetlands, and bottomland hardwood forests that provide critical habitat for a variety of fish, waterfowl, and other wildlife species. Originating as a natural waterway, Bayou DeSiard flows through the heart of the Monroe urban area, yet the surrounding protected wetlands sustain rich biodiversity. The area's ecology features cypress-tupelo swamps, floating aquatic vegetation, and dense marsh grasses, supporting species such as largemouth bass, crappie, alligators, and numerous migratory birds including herons, egrets, and ducks.
